The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has already begun its war on the water filter industry, with the agency zooming in on products from Berkey Water Systems (BWS).
The Health Ranger Mike Adams expounded on this in an episode of his “Health Ranger Report,” where he was joined by BWS founder Jim Shepherd. Adams lauded how Berkey products have saved many lives all over the world. He also noted how they have helped people get prepared for natural disasters and unexpected events.
The Natural News and Brighteon.com founder asked his guest why the EPA is trying to stop sales of their water filters. According to Adams, the agency is classifying BWS water filters as pesticides.
Shepherd then recounted that in May 2022, the EPA stopped one of their shipping containers – a move that puzzled the company’s shipper as it had never happened before. Following talks with their consultants, BWS reached out to the EPA.
The agency confirmed that the company’s products were an exempt device. It even checked the BWS website and product packages, and assured the water filter firm of the exemptions. The EPA also reminded BWS to ensure it wasn’t making any false claims.
But Shepherd was shocked upon learning that James Enterprises, one of BWS’ large dealers, was issued a stop-sale order for selling “pesticide” products. He also recalled the company consultant informing him of rumors that the EPA is reinterpreting its regulations because of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). One of those rules states that products that remove viruses from the water could lose their exemptions.
According to Adams, it is “bizarre and insane” that a water filter would be considered a pesticide. Shepherd agreed, pointing out that BWS does not put too many labels on their filters as they risk being locked out of the market for two or three years.
“We still do not have clarity as to why they are labeling us a pesticide,” the BWS founder agreed, noting that things remain unclear despite the company suing the EPA in a federal court in Texas.
According to Shepherd, BWS filters remove bacteria and other waterborne pathogens mechanically. “[Our filters] have a torturous maze of micropores, and the water flows through those,” he said. “But [those micropores] are smaller than the pathogens, and so we actually trap those pathogens – which makes us an exempt device.”
The Health Ranger also lauded BWS products on the “Health Ranger Report” episode. He cited the Big Berkey gravity filters that clean 2.25 gallons, which have consistently produced very solid test results. They are one of the best filters tested in the Health Ranger Labs using ICP-MS testing for the removal of heavy metals and cesium isotopes, which have huge implications in the event of a nuclear war. Adams also noted that the Berkey filtration system does not emit silver into the filtered water, a fact Shepherd affirmed. The BWS founder said the filters were actually submitted to the EPA for testing, which found that no silver made it to the final water.
Despite the benefits of Berkey water filters, Shepherd said the EPA had issued more stop-sale orders to their other dealers. Even a third-party manufacturer connected to BWS and the company’s manufacturing facility received stop-sale orders from the agency.
Adams ultimately remarked that if the EPA can order BWS to stop manufacturing Berkey water filters, other companies that make water filters would be subjected to the same orders as well. Shepherd agreed, noting that they have not known of other companies that received similar sanctions from the EPA. Nevertheless, he remarked that Berkey is being held to a standard that no one else in the water filter industry is being held to.
